Alander Espécie is a Brazilian sculptor, installation artist, and painter. His practice explores ancestry, memory, and identity through traditional weaving, macramé, and the collection of everyday objects. Through labor-intensive craftsmanship, Alander deconstructs common items like furniture and tools, reinterpreting their meanings and transforming them into symbolic and poetic installations.
Driven by a deep curiosity about how personal history intertwines with collective heritage, he weaves his own journey into each creation. His use of tactile materials such as rope, wood, and metal forms powerful metaphors for connection, resilience, and cultural layering.
Alander is also a certified art therapist and integrates therapeutic practices into social and community projects. His commitment to social causes is reflected in partnerships with charities and workshops focused on healing and empowerment through creative expression.
His works have been featured in significant collections and exhibitions, including the Índio da Costa Collection, and have been auctioned by the renowned Wright Auction in Chicago. In 2023, Alander was invited to create a permanent mural at the Brazilian Embassy in Tel Aviv, highlighting his international presence and the emotional depth of his work.
